Sleeping with celebrities (sort of) – hotels owned by the rich and famous

A-LIST glamour is not always reserved for celebs, sometimes the rich and the famous splash cash on property that they then share with the rest of us mere mortals.

Some come at A-list prices, others might surprise you with their affordability.

So, here are five of the best celebrity-owned hotels in the world.

The Big Sleep Hotel, Eastbourne, United Kingdom.

Despite being owned by a man consistently recognized as one of the finest actors in Hollywood – John Malkovich – that pedigree does translate into high prices. The Big Sleep offers budget-friendly accommodation and is pitched mid-range in the Eastbourne market.

Rooms start from US$80.

The Clarence Hotel, Dublin, Ireland.

In The Clarence’s Octagon Bar patrons have a very real opportunity to rub shoulders with its owners, who happen to be none other than U2’s Bono and The Edge. The bar is the favorite watering hole of the pair and it was there, over a few pints, they decided to buy the hotel.

Rooms in the hotel start from US$182.

Greenwich Hotel, New York, United States.

Acclaimed, Oscar-winning  actor Robert De Niro has branched out from acting to snap up a portfolio of property across his native New York.
That portfolio includes the Greenwich Hotel in Lower Manhattan’sTriBeCa neighbourhood.

A stay in the five-star, 88 room hotel starts at US$476.

Gaia Retreat and Spa, New South Wales, Australia.

It’s  tagged as “A place to reconnect with the land and yourself – barefoot meets Armani…” and Olivia Newton-John’s rural getaway near Byron Bay is pretty much just that. Set on 25 acres this health resort has therapists on hand.

A two-night spa retreat starts from US$1,140.

Sundance Resort, Utah, United States.

Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort is a four season retreat on Mount Timpanagos offering skiing, mountain biking, fine dining and more. The nearby town of Park City hosts the Sundance Film Festival, founded in 1978 by Redford.

A night there starts from US$279.

  2. Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips for novice blog writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.
